Participation In The Body

Levels of Participation

Below is a description of how some people might grow in their participation within the body of Christ at The Amadeo Church. This is not a strict guideline. It is only mentioned here to stress the point that we believe that all levels of participation are welcome at Amadeo Church.


The Milk (Find a Church - Year 1)

When you enter a new family community, whether you are a baby or a new visitor, you don't really care about rules and regulations. You care only about belonging and being a part of something that you enjoy and something that fulfills some spiritual need: fellowship and connection with God. Most non-believers would rather belong before they believe as well. For this reason, new visitors and guests are welcomed with no strings attached. They are encouraged for the first year to build relationships through sharing dinners with other families and friends they meet or hanging out over mutual interests, or by joining a home group if they feel comfortable in doing so.


Mushed Veggies (Find a Friend - Year 2)


When you have made the transition from being a visitor to being a regular attender we encourage attendees to find a small group for regular fellowship, prayer, one on one ministry, and accountability. We also encourage people in their second year to form a discipleship relationship with a leader in the church. We also encourage such attenders to volunteer their services in a variety of ways: cleaning up after service, setting up before service, being an usher, running the sound board, running the computer, being a welcomer, being a teacher's aide, hosting a small group in your home, participating in out-reaches, or serving as helpers for special events.


Bread & Butter (Find a Job - Year 3-10)

The bread & butter of our ministry is to disciple new believers and to reach out to others in our communities who have needs. If you have been serving faithfully in the small things we would like you to become a member of Amadeo Church and to consider leading a small group, an outreach project, a prayer team, or a mission trip. If you are not ready to lead, we would like to work together to help develop in whatever areas you need help with.


The Meat (The Servant-Leader)

God calls all who follow him to be a nation of priests. We are not meant to just be followers, we are also meant to be leaders. Servant leaders will grow and develop small groups, disciple people in the body of Christ, lead ministry outreaches. The servant leader is spiritually mature and has a sound grasp of doctrine and is able to lead people effectively. The servant leaders is also responsible for raising up new leaders.

Becoming a Member

How do I become a Member of the Amadeo Church?

Becoming a part of the body of Christ is an honor bestowed only by God upon each of us who hear the call on our life to follow Jesus Christ. It entails several parts:

1. The free invitation from Jesus Christ
2. The acceptance (a result of regeneration and God's work/grace on our hearts)
3. A one on one relationship
4. And the authority and empowerment to act on behalf of the Kingdom of God

Membership in the Amadeo Church has some similar attributes, although it is not required to attend the church. In fact, one need not become a member to attend any events at Amadeo Community Church, be baptized or take communion. In fact, Amadeo wants to be a church full of a whole bunch of non-members - that shows signs of life.

However, there comes a time when those who have attended the church for a while, and have shown themselves in alignment with the will of God and His church leadership are asked to make a written and verbal agreement of intent to become a member of the church. Sometimes this will happen because they are stepping into positions of leadership, other times it will happen because someone just wants to make an outward declaration of their commitment to the body of Christ at the Amadeo Church. Just as Baptism is an outward sign of an inward agreement with the organism which is the body of Christ, membership is our organization's counterpart to demonstrate an inward agreement with the organization that God has established at Amadeo Church. There was no actual signing of written documents in the Bible. Membership is merely a tool that is useful for discernment purposes, accountability, leadership training, liabilities and having a common purpose.


You know it might be time to join Amadeo Church when one of the following happens:

1. You have attended the church for at least a year and want to show an outside sign of your inward commitment
2. You have been asked by the church to consider becoming a member
3. You want to serve in various leadership positions

If you have had one or several of the above things happen, then the next step is to make sure you are in agreement with the following requirements:

Membership Qualifications

There are four prerequisites to joining the Community of Amadeo.

1. You have taken the Gospel & Mission Class and Membership Class at AMADEO
2. You have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
3. You have been baptized.
4. You are involved in community through a small Group, and attend Sundays regularly
5. You are willing to sign in support of the following statement:

"As a member of the Amadeo Church, I agree to support this ministry with my time, talent, and treasure (tithe) and to be accountable to the church leadership in matters concerning my relationship to God and to others."
